Why Should I Use Biodegradable Dog Poop Bags?
Scooping the poop may not be at the top of every dog owner’s most enjoyable daily tasks but we’ve still got to do it – and doing this ethically is something we at flynnthedog feel very strongly about.
It just doesn’t make sense to us that traditional dog waste bags are made from unbiodegradable plastic which takes 100 years to break down – despite the fact the these bags’ contents are highly compostable. And with 8 million dogs in the UK alone that’s a lot of waste!
There’s been so much fuss made over recent years about shoppers switching from plastic carrier bags to reusable ones yet the same attention hasn’t been given to our dog friends. Now we sell only biodegradable dog waste bags.
The bags we’ve chosen are made by a company called BioBag and the bag and its contents will biodegrade within 10 - 45 days in a composting environment. The bags are leak-proof and prevent the horrible smell you get when dog waste ferments in a closed plastic bag. They are made of corn starch and vegetable oil and don’t contain any polyethylene. Another thing: this brand is affordable to most dog owners in comparison to some other brands of biodegradable bags
